Laser Eye Surgery
LASIK is a quite new technology.
The first laser was approved for LASIK eye surgery
in 1998. Refractive Eye Surgery is any
eye surgery used to develop the refractive state of
the eye and lessen the want for glasses. The most
common methods today use lasers to reshape the cornea."Lasers
may be used to treat nonrefractive state" (for example:
to seal a retinal tear), while radial keratotomy is
an example of "refractive surgery" without
the use of a laser.
Eligibility for Lasic Surgery
1. You must be nearsighted,
farsighted, or have Astigmatism.
2. You must be within 18-60
years of age (over 60, you may be a candidate if you
are cataracts free.
3. Your eyesight has to be
firm for at least 3 years.
4. You should not have any
eye problems (no recurring inflammation that causes
itching).
>If you have health issues affecting
your eyes. For example, if you have diabetes, your
doctor will need to make sure your condition
will not cause trouble to eyes.
